Pune, April 13, 2008 (compiled by: MCS): Studies on the economics of beekeeping are rare in India. Recently I came across a paper dealing with this subject. It concerns the beekeeping in the Pithoragarh district of Uttaranchal. The district has the largest number of beekeepers in the state and a majority of them practice migratory beekeeping. Presumably all of them kept Apis mellifera.

Pune, March 15, 2008 (from: The Hindu ePaper March 9, 2008): The Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) of Andhra Pradesh is giving beekeeping training to 263 tribal women belonging to the primitive hill tribe, Konda Reddys.

Pune, September 18, 2009 (source: Koraputonline Blog News, August 2009; The Hindu Online Edition News dated August 13, 2009): A two-day regional seminar on Awareness and Motivation for Development of Beekeeping in Orissa was organized in the DNK Conference Hall, Koraput on August 10 – 11, 2009 jointly by the Lee Bee Foundation for Advancement of Beekeeping and Agro-enterprises (LABA) and Sarvodaya Samiti, Koraput, a state-level, non-governmental organization engaged mainly in development of beekeeping and honey industry.
